The houses on Brook Street where built in 1720 and in 1723 George Frideric Handel moved in to number 25, where he lived until his death in 1759. Born in Germany in 1685 he spent most of his time in England. In his lifetime he composed 42 operas, 29 oratorios and more than 120 cantatas, trios and duets, his most famous work is Messiah which has become a Christmas classis. The museum at Book Street has been extensively restored to look and feel as it did in Handel's day and includes a number of pieces of fine art from Handel's own collection.
